INTRODUCTION
You might have heard of someone trying to harm himself or attempting suicide or maybe you have self harm or heard self harming thoughts before but what you might not know is more people are self harming than you know, one study says 17percent of people will self iharm during their lifetime. WHAT IS SELF HARMING
Self harming is a deliberate act made by people to hurt their bodies usually as a way to cope with emotional pains caused by distressing thoughts, it is mostly done through cutting of skins but not limited to that it can also be done by burning, drug abuse and driving carelessly.
WHY DO PEOPLE SELF HARM
People have different reasons for engaging in self harming behaviors but the main reason is emotional pains caused by overwhelming difficulties, we have to understand that people are different and have different ways of dealing with difficulties, some people could talk to friends when they feel overwhelmed while others would engage in self harming activities. I once talked to someone who always self harm and he told me the main reason he does it is that it temporarily converts emotional pains to physical pain and so they get distracted from their problems and negative thoughts. The main reason people self harm can be summarized as follows

✓ Difficulties at home
✓ Depression and anxiety
✓Alcohol and drug use

WHO SHOULD I TALK TO
First of all we must understand that talking is very important in our recovery process, although it is very difficult to talk about our self harming conditions and I wouldn't recommend if it wasn't absolutely necessary, people you should talk to should include
✓friends
✓teacher or counselor
✓family
The most important thing before chosing someone to talk to is that you feel comfortable and trust the person
